Autism and schizophrenia are the same thing. There was a change in definitions in DSMIV in 1994 and childhood schizophrenia was removed and autism took its place as a diagnosis. At the molecular level they are identical and there is no surprise that parents with a diagnosed mental illness have more autistic children.
In non-familial autistim, paternal age is a key cause of the disorders. The existence of mitochondrial disorders is not to be doubted and if vaccines cause damage this is also not a surprise. http://ebdblog.com/paternalage/
